I can't tell you how wonderful it is being out in the world again, and what joy to feel warm and away from a cold Melbourne winter. And that's just the start – the real fun has been spending six days at Threads of Life, batiking and dyeing fabric to my heart's content.

Dye bliss in Bali
from Stitch and Yarn
The first two days were spent in a workshop, or induction, as I got to learn about the studio and their processes as well as try out a number of different dye colours and batiking (which I hadn't done since my trip to Eswatini ...

Easy Delectable Mountain x 3
from Sew Sunshine
"Delectable X 3"
60" x 69"
hand quilted big stitch white cotton 30wt thread
I finally finished this UFO recently. Several years ago already, I got together with my friend and fellow quilter Jen and we did a batch of indigo and other dyes. I had picked up a thrift old sheet. "Wherever the Wind Blows"

I had in mind a few blocks I started in a BOM a few years ago.
These blocks were 12.5" and simple traditional shapes made as BOM for Blossom Heart Quilts HST Modern Sampler. (2016 ...

Crank to Dye
from Becca's Crazy Projects
What seems like forever ago I bought entirely too much Knit Picks Bare Fingering weight yarn to dye. I still haven't managed to get through it all. I decided it was time to use the circular sock knitting machine to make some blanks to dye. This is a great way to create gradient colorways.
Step one was to take those hanks of yarn and wind them for easy knitting. I used my Stanwood ball winder. If you're unhappy with your small plastic ball winder, this is a great upgrade option.
